Allie turns 6!

I was really excited to try Robert Craig’s line of haircolor. With no peroxide or ammonia it is supposed to be more gentle on your hair with very natural results. So I ordered a box of Chocolate Brown and hoped for the best.
For the last several months my hair stylist has been highlighting my hair with auburn highlights.. but I was getting a little tired of the upkeep and since she cancelled my last appointment (for the 2nd time, she cancels me all the freaking time!!) I decided to just dye over everything and get back to my natural dark brown shade. My first mistake was not doing a strand test… but I thought, dark brown.. how hard can this be? I’ve colored my hair before, never had a problem. The color itself was very easy to mix and apply, but after being on my head for 30 min. my hair was a nice shade of soft BLACK! Crap. So I washed my hair with dish detergent (which was supposed to pull some color out). Still soft black. Washed it 5, 6 times, still soft black. Hopefully it will fade over the next few weeks and I’ll try it again with a light or medium brown and see if that is better. Another (horrifying) option is to use a product called Colorfix which will strip the permanent color out of my hair. Of course then my hair will be orange until I color it back. Or I could admit defeat and go to a professional to fix it.. nah, let’s just hope it fades!!!

Sunday we saw Hilary Hahn perform at the Alys Stephens Center. Normally I wouldn’t pay $100+ to see a violinist, but since Chris is a Catalyst member we got a discounted ticket plus one free. The seats were great, about 12 rows back in the center. And we sat next to one of Chris’ Flickr peeps (small world!).
I’m the first to admit that I do not have sophisticated taste in classical music. Art, yes. Classical music, no. I like pretty, happy classical music. Nothing dark, overly dramatic.. you get the picture. I swear the first few songs that Hilary performed made me feel like I was listening to the soundtrack of a holocaust movie. I hated it. The pianist was hysterical.. very dramatic and had an evil look in her eye. Luckily Chris agreed and we left at Intermission!
