Daphne Update
After we got home from the Dr.’s office Daphne ate and went down for a long nap (3 hours). She woke up clammy but with no fever and was all smiles and giggles. That infant Motrin is a miracle drug! The nurse and Dr. both suggested giving her a little Pedialyte, which is easier said than done. I’ve completely given up with getting her to take a bottle, and since she’s almost ready for a sippy cup we decided to get one and see if she’d take it. I think she was so sick of people trying to stick droppers and syringes in her mouth that she really didn’t want to try the cup.
I forgot to mention how ratty Daphne looked at the Dr.’s office. I had her in a cute polo dress when Chris got home. It was warm in the house and she seemed to be comfortable. Later when we noticed shivering and her ice cold hands and feet and called the nurse, we were instructed to keep her warm. Chris suggested one of her footed sleepers for comfort. So we get to the Dr. and her temp is now up to 104. Of course the first thing they ask is “Do you have anything else to put her in? She won’t cool off in that outfit.” Crap. No, I didn’t bring a onesie (why didn’t I think about that?). And what makes it even worse is she was wearing a Carter’s sleeper that pilled like crazy and was a size too big (my dad bought her a 12 mo winter sleeper for Christmas). And her poor hair. She had rubbed little knots into the back of her hair, and of course the front looked ridiculous. The Dr. even jokingly mentioned her hair. Normally I wouldn’t let her leave the house like that, but we were dealing with the first sickness of our first child and probably overreacting a bit. We just ran out of the house.
I’m still keeping up with her Motrin today. Hopefully she’s over the worst of it.
