7 Months

Dear Daphne,

You are 7 months old today! In the past month you’ve mastered sitting up by yourself, had a week long infection with a temp of 103, and have decided sleeping on your tummy is your preferred position. You roll and play with your toys and every once in a while it looks like you are going to crawl. Then you give up. You still love to stand up and have almost mastered hanging on to your activity table. Daddy wants you to start walking. I can wait a few more months because the more mobile you are, the more you’ll get into things and we haven’t baby-proofed yet.

I’m still trying to get you interested in eating solids. You were doing ok until your sickness when you decided after me shoving a syringe of Infant Motrin in your mouth every 6 to 8 hours that you wanted nothing to do with any more plastic in your mouth. That’s understandable. All the lovely organic baby food I bought is still sitting in the pantry. All the “make your own baby food” cookbooks I got went back to the library. The last time I tried to feed you bananas you gave me this look as if to say, “Are you trying to kill me?!” You really hated those bananas.

You are still waking up at least once a night. You start off in your crib and then since Mommy gets lazy at 2 or 3 in the morning I bring you into bed and feed you and let you finish out the night with us. You like to sleep as close to me as humanly possible, which freaks me out because for a long time I was afraid of rolling on or suffocating you. So as you’d roll into me, I’d scoot back and eventually be laying half off the bed.

You like being outside and enjoy our walks around the block. After a few seconds of protest, you settle into the Ergo or Babyhawk and enjoy the stroll. I can’t wait to spend more time with you outside and eventually get you a little baby pool to play in.

I can’t wait to see what this next month brings!  I love you baby girl,

Mommy

Daphne
