Fancy tie-dye? That’s an oxymoron

March 31st, 2008

I saw this today on fabric.com and I still can’t figure out what anyone would do with it:

Product description: Fancy Novelty Tye-Dye Sequined Knit Fabric in Lime.

Um, what? There are so many things wrong with that I don’t know where to start. First off, the obvious… tie-dye and sequins. There’s a combo you don’t see often. Is this for hippies when they get invited to the Oscars? Just curious. Also, knit? puke color? knit and sequins? fancy? And it’s on sale. Pass.

And speaking of fabric… you know you spend way too much time looking at fabric sites when you can go on Babyhawk.com and name all the designers and fabric line of each print. I was on their site recently and thought to myself, “Oh wow, they now have Sandi Henderson’s Ginger Blossom line available in their mei tais. Oh, and there’s a Robert Kaufman print.” I spend way too much time looking at fabric and projects and not nearly enough time sewing.
