This is why I’m an “indoor dog”

August 3rd, 2008

It’s good to be home!!! We just got back from the airport after a fun-filled and extremely hot weekend in Missouri and Oklahoma. I should be used to the heat and humidity, after all you really can’t escape it when you live this far south. But normally when the temperature is around 100+ I go from air conditioned house to car to building. I don’t usually plan late summer outdoor activities unless they involve chlorine. With our Bartlesville plans (Woolaroc and the Kiddie Park) and my niece’s birthday party at a local park we spent most of the weekend sweating.

Please excuse me while I go burn all my sweaty, dirty, Cheerio and baby food stained clothing from the weekend. Daphne managed to trash every outfit I wore, starting with the outfit I wore on the plane Friday. I had this shirt on from Kohls (in solid chocolate brown, although I do have this pink one too to wear to Daph’s b-day party) and some tan bermuda shorts. Daphne spilled water on me, dropped Cheerios and Gerber puffs, spit up freeze dried fruit snacks. By the end of the flight I looked like I had run through a sprinkler, fully dressed, then jumped into a sleeping bag full of crumbs and threw myself off a cliff. I walked off the plane in Tulsa saying, “Please God, help me not to see anyone I know. Please. Please. Please.” Because isn’t that always what happens? I only run into people I haven’t seen in years when I look like complete hell.

I’m off. The next post will be pictures from our trip (Hopefully tomorrow, unless I’m scrambling for hurricane/tropical storm supplies since we are low on groceries and Edouard might be headed our direction. Have I ever mentioned that Chris & I are hurricane magnets? Well, that’s another post for another day.)
