Happy Birthday Chris!!

December 7th, 2007

Today is Chris’ 35th birthday. Daphne & I are home, making cupcakes and cleaning the house in anticipation of the weekend’s festivities. Chris requested a simple white or yellow cake with buttercream frosting and I thought cupcakes would be more fun, and easier for portion control. I’m trying out Amy Sedaris’ famous cupcake recipe and so far it’s pretty good. They remind me of the cupcakes from Whole Foods, dense and not overly sweet. If you normally get your cake from a box then you probably won’t like these. I look forward to trying them with icing.

Tonight we are keeping it simple- quick dinner at Five Guys, Starbucks, then looking at Christmas lights. Tomorrow we feast on filet mignon from Whole Foods (Side note- the meat at Whole Foods is worth the splurge. We don’t normally spend $30/lb on meat but this is worth every penny. It cooks up so tender and flavorful it’s better than what you can get at most restaurants, cheaper too.) and attempt one last time to get a Christmas card shot of Daphne.

Anyway, happy birthday sweetie!!!! Hope you have a wonderful day. We love you! - Jen & Daphne

Big 12 Champs!!

December 2nd, 2007

What a messed up year for college football.  Luckily OU was able to pull off another win over Missouri last night in the Big 12 championship game.  I wish we could have gone to San Antonio.  The OU alumni association has been tempting me with travel arrangement emails for weeks now.  Oh well, some other time when we don’t have a 3 month old.

Amazon Customers Vote

November 20th, 2007

For the second year Amazon.com is doing their Customers Vote promotion which starts this Thursday.  Basically there are six rounds with 18 products total.  You vote on a product from each round and if you are randomly selected you get an opportunity to purchase the item at a crazy discount.  Last year we got a HDTV and an elliptical for $200 (no shipping!).  Check it out, you might get a chance to buy a Wii for $79.

In Case You Missed It… Oregon vs Arizona

November 16th, 2007

Last night unranked Arizona beat #2 Oregon.  After last year’s OU-Oregon fiasco I am glad to see Oregon get beat & get knocked out of running for the national championship, especially by a Stoops.  Now OU just needs to hold on to the rest of their season & win the Big 12.  LSU vs OU would make for a nice championship game.

Just when you got “frak” out of your vocabulary…

November 9th, 2007

Battlestar Galactica comes back (well, kinda) on November 24th with a 2 hour special episode, Razor. Unfortunately we will be driving home from our Thanksgiving trip and will miss it. Thank goodness for DVR technology. If you live in a few select cities you can see a special screening on Nov. 12th.
On a side note- I hate having such long gaps between new episodes. I can handle a long summer break, but a year between seasons really sucks. Weeds & Big Love are the same way. I’m tempted to just forget watching them when they air and just Netflix the DVDs when they come out.

Photo Mojo On TV

Photo Mojo On TV

Today Daphne and I were home, laying on the sofa, watching Oprah (I’m really getting into this stay at home mom thing!) on the DVR. Dr. Oz was on and he annoys me so as I was fast forwarding through the show I noticed a commercial for the Moss Rock festival with a couple pics that looked really familiar!! Last year the organizers asked if they could use some of Chris’ pictures in their promotional material and two of them ended up in their latest commercial for the upcoming event this weekend. Pretty cool!! Click on the picture to go to Chris’ Flickr account to view more.

Woman of Leisure

October 16th, 2007

Today is my first official day as a stay at home mom. Yep, that’s right. Yesterday I found out that I was being laid off from my job just as I was planning to return from maternity leave. It’s not unexpected, especially when you work for a mortgage company that specializes in the subprime market. I doubt many employees will be left with the company by the holidays. I had planned on returning on a part time basis (with some hours telecommuting) so unless I just stumble across another job with the same flexibility I’ll be filing for unemployment for a little while until Daphne gets a little older. I’m actually relieved. I was not looking forward to coordinating Daphne’s care and feeding around a work schedule. And being with her is much more fun than being in the office anyway.

And in Daphne News- at 7 weeks we think she weighs about 10 lbs. Hard to believe she was 5 lbs 9 oz when we left the hospital, doesn’t seem like it’s been that long ago. It’s amazing how fast they change and grow.

Check out this month’s Birmingham Magazine which features a short bio on Chris and one of his pics, The Lomo Garage. The magazine profiled several other members of the Magic City Flickr group as well. Daphne and I are so proud!!!

The Happy Couple

June 17th, 2007

Chris & I had the pleasure of going to Bella Vista, AR this weekend for my sister Lauren’s wedding. Check Chris’ Flickr account for a few shots, and hopefully in the next few days some pics from Lauren’s photographer, Jason Hudson, will be available on his site.

Happy Anniversary!

May 4th, 2007

Today is our 11th wedding anniversary. A year ago we were sipping rum punch while snorkeling with stingrays in the Bahamas. This year is going to be more low key, just a nice steak dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. Chris will have to drink the champagne for the both of us (no complaints there!).

    Welcome

And thanks for stopping by! But mainly, stay classy.
