This has to be a joke…
Posted on April 15th, 2010 @ 10:08 pm

My first thought while seeing the following trailer was, “Is this an April Fool’s joke?” Maybe you’ve heard of it, Mega Piranha? If not and you need a good laugh today, check out the trailer (once you sit through the commercial):

We’ll get to the clip in just a sec, because seriously, Greg Brady?!?!? Ok, you know I’m a geek girl. I do love my sci-fi, always have. But I just don’t understand the SyFy original B-movies. I’m not sure if I’d even be generous enough to call them B-movies. Ice spiders, big snakes. Who watches this? The only way I want to watch something like that is if it gets the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment.

I say all that, but Greg Brady, “I think we’re alone now” Tiffany and flying piranhas, picking off people as they jump out of a helicopter. And the whole laying on your backing, kicking the piranhas as they jump up to attack you. Maybe I will watch this movie.

So, my fellow Lost fans… how do you feel about the approaching series finale? Let me borrow a favorite phrase of Sawyer’s to sum up my feelings. Cue the YouTube video (how have I not seen this before?)

What shows am I going to obsess over, since most of my faves have ridden off into the sunset of TV history? Now taking suggestions. I guess there is always Glee.

What I’m Loving Right Now…
Posted on September 16th, 2009 @ 5:15 pm

All of Emma’s necklaces on Glee. I’m a sucker for any retro/enameled flower type jewelry.

This print from Etsy seller Tascha. I had a tuxedo cat named Jackie and she was the best cat ever. This was before we realized I was allergic to cats. Tascha also has some great Frida Kahlo prints.

Fabric leaves from Etsy seller JaneJoss. Love, love, love these.

And this is hilarious.. stroller covers/Halloween costumes for little ones. From Etsy seller mapletree2000.

Plus any and all toddler boots. Riding boots, suede, cowboy, ankle, patent… unfortunately all of Daphne’s fall/winter shoes can’t be boots.

What are your favorite things right now?

What is it?
Posted on June 22nd, 2009 @ 3:43 pm

Daphne doesn’t watch too many different TV programs. She requests her “Jack” and “Elmo” and occasionally I let her watch Dora, but that’s about it. We DVR the shows we want to see and watch them after she goes to bed. So, what I’m trying to say is she doesn’t have variety of children’s programming (and commercials) under her belt to know about Hannah Montana and High School Musical. Yet every time she sees Hannah Montana on screen, she claps. This weekend, she sat glued to the TV singing along with High School Musical. She’d never seen it before. What is it about these shows? It’s like me and the Discovery Health Channel (can. not. look. away… which reminds me, I have Freebirthing on the DVR).

And since this is sort of related… this weekend I walked into the living room to see Daphne dancing up a storm to the “Born to hand jive” scene in Grease. Hilarious. When John Travolta throws himself on the ground and starts to walk around in a circle… Daphne tried to do the same thing. I wish I had that on video.

I Can’t Believe I Watch This Stuff
Posted on June 1st, 2009 @ 1:17 pm

I noticed the trailer for the next Twilight movie, New Moon, was available online. Here’s the clip, in case you haven’t seen it:

You might remember that Chris & I laughed our way through the first Twilight movie, even thought it’s not supposed to be a comedy. Hehehe. The books weren’t great, but they were a hell of a lot better than the movie. Anyway, I might actually want to see New Moon, for no other reason than I am on Team Jacob. Seriously, why would anyone choose Edward over Jacob. He’s sweet, better looking, etc. Oh well. The funny thing about the clip is I was discussing with some moms on one of my moms boards about how we felt like dirty old women. We were all drooling over Taylor Lautner (Jacob). And I think I was in college when he was born. I could be his mom, LOL! I also have a completely inappropriate crush on Silas from Weeds.

Oh, and have you heard they might be remaking Dune with Robert Pattison? One article I read mentioned him being cast as Paul, and another as Feyd, so we will see. I would be excited to see a new Dune movie.

And since there is nothing else on TV these days, I’ll be watching Jon & Kate Plus 8 tonight. I actually watched the first season until Kate got to be so unbearable. I just hated her attitude of “Yeah, we fight and I yell at Jon all the time and belittle/emasculate him any chance I get, but that’s just how we are and we still love each other.” You know, I don’t think it’s OK. I think if you treat your partner like that then you really can’t be surprised if they look around for something else. Not saying that I feel Jon’s alleged affair is OK. I’ll probably spend tonight watching the episode, thinking “These people are stupid. I hope they get it together for the sake of their cute kids. And please, please, please someone cut Kate’s hair!!!”

I feel like I need to watch some Masterpiece Theatre now to balance out all the crap I’ve watched lately.

Gervais + Elmo
Posted on April 25th, 2009 @ 5:01 pm

A few weeks ago, I introduced Daphne to Sesame Street, since Noggin booted Jack’s Big Music Show off their daytime rotation (Boo on you Noggin. Toot and Puddle? Seriously?) She loves Sesame Street and especially Elmo.

Here’s a pretty cute video with Ricky Gervais and Elmo. “Get off Elmo!” Bwahahaha.

Anyone Else Remember?
Posted on September 10th, 2008 @ 8:38 pm

I like being able to relive parts of my childhood via YouTube. Like this clip from Jim Henson’s The Frog Prince. Does anyone else remember this show? I had the record also. I admit, I still throw out “Have a popover, froggy” and “Bake the hall in the candle of her brain” occasionally. I’m pretty bad about using obscure 70’s/80’s TV and movie references.

And then there’s the Bugaloos. For some unknown reason the opening song pops into my head from time to time. I mean, it’s not like it was an exceptional show. There was a line from the movie Tao of Steve, that said something like, “nobody I know remembers the Bugaloos.” Totally true. I never meet anyone else who remembers the Bugaloos, not that it comes up in conversation often.

And while I’m talking about Sid and Marty Krofft shows, did you know they are remaking the Banana Splits? I think they even redid the theme song. Tra, la, la. And I’m pretty sure they are remaking Land of the Lost as a movie starring Will Ferrell. Which is a good thing, because I totally forgot how much the original sucked. Worst special effects ever.

Dancing Fool
Posted on July 24th, 2008 @ 8:06 pm

I have a confession to make. I have been watching So You Think You Can Dance? and enjoying it. I know, I’m usually a TV snob. I don’t watch American Idol (except for the season with Ruben Studdard since my husband knew him) or Big Brother or Survivor or any of that. Of course I have my guilty pleasure shows, like America’s Next Top Model and (this is really embarrasing) Gossip Girl. I know, I know. At 34 years old I’m sure I’m more than double the target age for that show. But all the pretty clothes, and all the pretty boys, I can’t help myself.

My mom is a big fan of SYTYCD and got me hooked on the show. I can’t believe how invested I’ve become in just a few episodes. I’m seriously sitting in front of the TV right now totally shocked that Will and Twitch are in the bottom 2. How is this possible? Kick Mark off the show. And of course I’m getting a lot of crap from my husband about watching it. In fact he just mentioned how ironic it is that the person with the least amount of rhythm or dance ability in the house is enjoying a dancing show. I don’t see what that has to do with it, lol!!! Anyway, earlier Chris & Daphne were dancing and she was mimicking his movements, which was pretty darn cute. Oh the things you see when you don’t have a camera or video camera close by.

Weeds
Posted on June 8th, 2008 @ 12:11 am

Hi, it’s me again. Up in the middle of the night. Currently I’m watching Weeds Season 3 on iTunes. I missed the second half of the season when our cable company kept screwing us around on our rate and we pulled the plug. For those of you that have never seen it, Weeds is hysterical. But it’s not for the easily offended. Just a warning. I’m also eating a macadamia nut cookie and drinking a glass of Segura Viudas Brut Reserva. Which actually is not as gross of a combo as you’d think. The wine is to try and get me to sleep. Hopefully it will work.

Speaking of Weeds, the “put the lotion in the basket” girl from Silence of the Lambs is popping up all over the place lately… Weeds, Grey’s Anatomy and briefly in Dirty, Sexy, Money. I always try to bring up Silence of the Lambs references whenever appropriate because the movie still grosses my husband out. That was our first date. It’s a miracle we ever had a second date.
